    Charles Erskin Lane was born August 15, 1928, Caucasian
    When Clarence Lane entered service he gave Columbus County, NC as his Home
    of Record.
    He Volunteered for the U S Army.
    He was assigned to, Company “C”, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Inf Division.
    He was Killed in Action on November 30, 1950 while fighting the enemy in the
    Chosin Reservoir, North Korea area.
    His remains were never recovered.

    Born in Wilmington, NC
    He volunteered the U S Marine Corps on September 7, 1946 for a 3-year term.
    He was 17 years old..
    After that three year hitch, he re-enlisted on September 4, 19 49
    In September 1850 he was assigned to Company “F” 5th Marine Regiment, 1st
    Marine Division.
    He landed in Pusan Korea on September 6, 1950 and was engaged in the Battle
    of the Pusan Perimeter.  On the 15th of September 1950 he participated in
    the invasion of Inchon. He left Inchon on October 14th, 1950 and landed at
    Wonsan, North Korean October 27th 1950. His unit marched north to the Chosin
    Reservoir.
     
    While fighting the Chinese at the Chosin Reservoir Joseph Edward Murphy was
    missing in action in sub-zero weather. He was presumed dead by our
    government on December 2, 1950 .
     
    Joseph Edward Murphy was born in the Community Hospital at 7th and Red
    Cross. His father was from Kelly, NC and died at a young age.. Joseph
    (Smukie) was raised by his grandmother, Margaret Gause. He had one brother
    that was killed in an automobile accident. He has a aunt by marriage living
    in Seagate, Mrs. James McQullan (392-0489). She states that the only known
    relatives are two aunts that live somewhere in Seattle Washington. She does
    not know their names of their addresses.
     
     
    JPAC (Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command) in Hawaii has Joseph Edward Murphy
    on the “Urgent List’ this means that, “ A family DNA sample is immediately
    needed to conform or discount this casualty identification.”

    James Worley’s father Sam Worley lived at 211 Wooster Street, Wilmington,
    NC.
    His  mother Mrs. Harry Owens lived at Route 3, Box 32, Marion, SC. c/o Henry
    Boatwright. His parents separated in 1938
     
    Parents separated in 1938. His mother, Mary stated to the government that
    she wanted absolutely no correspondence with her husband. She later married
    Harry Owens and lived at Route  #3, Box 32, and Marion SC, c/o Henry
    Boatwright.
     
    His father, Sam Worley lived at 211 Wooster Street, Wilmington.
    SS Index; Sam Worley Born: 12 May 1902, died in Wilmington, NC, December

    Frank Worley entered service from New Hanover County. He Volunteered for the
    U S Army with a Serial # RA 14366839. He was captured in North Korea on Feb.
    12, 1951 while serving with  “A” Battery, 503rd Artillery Battalion, and 2nd
    Infantry Division. At the time of his loss his unit was supporting the
    Republic Of Korea 8th Division near Hoengsong, South Korea. Frank Worley was
    one of the 29 men that were captured in his Battalion. There was 27 killed
    and the South Korean 8th Division they were supporting was virtually
    destroyed with 323 Officers and 7,142 lost.
     
    JPAC (Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command) in Hawaii has Frank Worley on the
    “Urgent List”, which means the he is an active case. Remains are on hand
    that he is associated with. DNA from a family member is needed to possibly
    identify the remains
